CD-SEAS Mission Microgravity is proud to announce Dr. Lance Erickson to the position of CD-SEAS Advisor. Dr. Lance Erickson is a recently-retired Professor Emeritus from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dr. Erickson, born in Denver, Colorado in 1946, served as a faculty member at ERAU from 1988 to 2016. His educational background includes a Ph. D. in astronomy (1988) and a B.S. in Physics (1980).
His research interests extended from galaxy dynamics to human and robotic space exploration. Research and development projects affiliated with his work at ERAU also included orbital and suborbital spaceflight training. A Fulbright Scholar award in 2010 took him to Kiev, Ukraine to teach space flight and astronomy subjects for two semesters
Dr. Erickson created an undergraduate Bachelor’s in Commercial Space Operations, as well as a Minor and graduate specialization in Space Studies for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), in Daytona Beach, Florida. His education and curriculum efforts also included courseware for the NASA Space Shuttle Program, and K-12 and STEM courses for Florida schools. Formal textbooks published include Space Flight: History, Technology and Operations (Government Institutes, 2010), and Space Shuttle Operations and Technology (Linus Publications, 2007). While never reaching space himself, Dr. Erickson was headed in that direction as an avid pilot and flight instructor.
